B. John's Story
hola, friends. here it is october 2008. hope you are well. i had previously posted on here some silly and what i thought were a few rather obviously outrageous chronicles of my times since MTHS (all very much tongue in cheek). But upon further thought/review, i decided some folks just might actually believe i was "married seven times ... and had an intervention with dick gregory and richard simmons" etc., so i decided to scrap that draft.
instead, the less scandalous or glamorous truth is that i am living here in the area for the first time in more than 20-plus years ... when i was a kid. we had been residing in dallas until just about thanksgiving last year. had an opportunity to relocate back to the midwest for my work, and we opted for the peoria area rather than doing the chicago thing (AGAIN!!!). good to be here. although surreal at times.
i have told stacy (my wife) that we really need to try call on some old friends and catch up. it is terrific visiting people you haven't seen in YEARS. must confess it's eas...Expand for more
y to accept that i have aged, but hard to imagine for others. why is that?
i got started on the family thing quite late in life, so we are just now raising a two-year old, and have another on the way. parenthood (as many of you have most likely already ecountered) is wonderful.
(funny, i'm writing this as though anyone would really care or have any interest. in the rare event anyone does ...)
we live in a new development -- "thornridge" in germantown hills. a rather ordinary place compared to the mini-mansions in dallas or some of these spralling estates even here in illinois, but it is more than i should hope for. as you could imagine, there were times in my life i wondered whether i would be living in a house or a box. really.
needless to say, life is unpredictable. i am humbled by how much i still don't know/understand, as well as how much mercy god has shown me.
feel free to drop us a note. we have room at the inn, and always enjoy hosting. i hope this finds you well/safe/happy. god speed.
sincerely,
b. john
